
As part of its commitment to the cultural wellbeing of the community, Stanthorpe Regional Art Gallery, sponsors and plays host to a number of cultural and visual arts events, most notably the Biennial Art Festival.
Metamorposed from the yearly Granite Belt Artists exhibition, this inaugural prized exhibition is a platform for all artists and craftsworkers from the Southern Downs, Granite Belt and Border Areas to have their efforts viewed in a regional gallery. Held this year in Stanthorpe, the exhibition offers two awards to particpating artists:
The Margaret Burton Memorial Art Award will be awarded to the most outstanding artwork from the exhibition.
The Combined Galleries encouragement award will be presented to the artist demonstrating creative potential.
The Southern Downs Regional Artists exhibition is a great opportunity discover the hidden creativity of the entire region in one location. It captures the spirit of togetherness and celebrates the regions talented artists. This exhibition is not to be missed!
The Southern Downs Regional Artists Exhibition 2009 opens November 13 and continues until December 15.

The 18th biennial Stanthorpe Art Festival is scheduled to take place from the 26th February – 18th April 2010. Open to all artists with a postal address or agent in Australia, A first prize of $10,000 is to be awarded, with up to $20,000 of acquistions to be made for the Southern Downs Regional Council Collection.
The judge for the 2010 Art Festival is John McDonald, Art Critic for the Sydney Morning Herald and Author of Art In Australia Vol1 - Colonisation to Federation.

Stanthorpe comes alive in October 2010 with Fibres Stanthorpe!
Stanthorpe Regional Art Gallery is proud to sponsor the first fibre event to be held in Stanthorpe. Forty participants have the opportunity to work with four international fibre/ textile tutors in this intimate event organised by reknowned Australian Textile Artist Glenys Mann.
This event is scheduled from the 4th October – 9th October 2010
