August Music in the Gallery Events
Stanthorpe Regional Art Gallery is proud to announce that Music in the Gallery will host two recitals during August. The first of these is entitled “Fabulously French” which promises to be a captivating performance featuring two of our previous performers and one who is new to the Gallery. Soprano Peta Blyth and local flutist Nick Negerevich will be joined by pianist Dr Brieley Cutting in a programme which celebrates French composers in a – well – fabulous way.
The programme includes a selection of soprano, piano and flute works as well as piano solos by Berlioz, Debussy, Ravel, Gounod, Duparc, Taffanel, Caplet and Godard, with music from the Romantic era of the 19th Century through to the early 20th century. Local audiences will be familiar with Peta Blyth’s lovely voice and Nick Negerevich’s talents with the flute. Peta, who has a wealth of performance accolades including Opera Australia and Opera Queensland as well as being a serial performer for Music in the Gallery, was also an adjudicator in the recent Queensland Eisteddfod held in Stanthorpe. Nick Negerevich, who has long-term roots in the Granite Belt and recently retired as Head of Woodwind Studies at New England Conservatorium of Music, is also a regular performer at Music in the Gallery.
Pianist Brieley Cutting's playing has been critically praised for its ‘myriad of colours’ and ‘technical expertise’. Her versatility in her field is reflected in the receipt of accolades and recognition as a solo and chamber music performer, pedagogue, curator and director of music series, and as an academic. Brieley is currently based in Armidale, New South Wales.
These three talented performers are sure to entrance us with their music, and anyone learning piano, flute or singing would be encouraged to come along and listen to performers of this calibre and experience.
Fabulously French will be held on Sunday 4th August at 2pm. Entry is $15.00 per person.

Please join us in the beautiful acoustic of the Stanthorpe Regional Art Gallery for these recitals. The Local Art Prize winners and entries will still be on display for your visual enjoyment too.
