Musk Lorikeet (Glossopsitta concinna) & Scaly-breasted Lorikeet (Trichoglossus chlorolepidotus)

Conservation status: least concern

Noisy little characters that rove in flocks, following the trails of blossoming gums, Musk Lorikeets are plump, brilliantly coloured and very watchable.

Constantly squabbling, they are attracted by the nectar, but they also pick off lerps, crystallised honeydew produced by psyllid larvae, from the undersides of leaves. Sometimes, they will be joined at the feast by a Scaly-breasted Lorikeet or two.
