Symphony Hill Wines mural by Christopher Williams

Eukey Road, Ballandean.

Mural by Queensland artist Christopher Williams.

Christopher Williams is a Head Scenic Artist on many Gold Coast based national and international films, with credits for Elvis, Aquaman, Thor Ragnarök, Kong Vs Godzilla and more. He is also an accomplished artist specialising in large-scale works. It is evident that the nature of the artist’s large-scale film work has flowed into his creative artwork.

The first image in the collection, Sophia-Penelope-Gina, has a great backstory. You can see in the foreground of the image the terracotta amphora that we use to mature special vintages of our wine. Unlike maturation in oak barrels, the terracotta preserves the purity of the grapes’ unique character and expression of its terroir. The shape of the amphora facilitates the suspension and free movement of the wine, allowing for the development of wines with greater complexity. We have three terracotta amphora at Symphony Hill Wines, each made by the Italian artisan, Giovanni Salvianti. Given their Italian heritage, each one was named after a Latin beauty, from left to right we have ‘Penelope’ (Cruz), ‘Sophia’ (Loren) and ‘Gina’ (Lollobrigida). Just like the women, our Amphora Range of Wines are sensual, sophisticated and captivating.

The oversized wine glass mural allows you to interact with the work and put yourself in the picture.
