I live in the hinterland of the Gold Coast. In this work I've painted the Eastern Spinebill and grevillea from my garden and used our local landscape as the backdrop. By combining related imagery in this way I'm trying to get closer to the reality of my experience.
My main goal is to take my immediate surroundings, the landscape and the wildlife I'm so inspired by, and to paint it in a way that gets closer to the reality of how I actually see and experience it, and through this process create something new.
